Financial Aid for Returning Students

How do I apply for financial aid?

Contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance, Franklin Hall 208, 855-0321 for information and the required federal financial assistance application, FAFSA. This form should be completed, signed, and returned to the federal government address included, or submitted on-line, by March 10 each year. Information processed from the FAFSA will be returned to the IUB Office of Student Financial Assistance for use in determining eligibility for federal, Indiana, or IU financial assistance. Each student is mailed a copy of this information as soon as it becomes available.

Does the General Studies Degree Program offer any student scholarships?

Yes. These scholarships are limited in number and vary in amount. Applications are available in the General Studies Program Office, Owen Hall 202, for scholarship awards for the upcoming academic year. Eligibility for these awards is based on academic merit and financial need. Application deadline is March 24, 2008 for the 2008-09 academic year.

Does Adult Student Resources offer any financial assistance for students?

Yes. There are scholarships, limited in number and that may vary in amount, for currently enrolled returning women students age 25 and older. Applications are accepted until March 24, 2008 in Owen Hall 202, for scholarships to be awarded for the 2008-09 academic year.

Does the School of Continuing Studies offer any financial assistance for students?

Yes. Each year one student will receive the Dean’s Scholarship for $500 and several students will receive Ford P. Hall scholarships, which may vary in amount.

What other resources are available for financial assistance for school?

The Adult Student Resources houses a scholarship file for student referral. The ASR also posts scholarship information on bulletin boards in Owen Hall 202, keeps updated applications of various scholarships accessible to students, and has lists of web sites connected to scholarship information available.
